In spring 2019, Jason Rogalski taught his students (7th-10th grade) at SOUL Charter School all about Santa Margarita Ecological Reserve. This began with a virtual visit to the reserve. The students learned about the biology and geology of the reserve and the challenges it faces from human impacts. They then created an interactive science-art exhibit, which was presented at the San Diego Festival of Engineering and Science and then went on tour to SMER Science day and on to a class in Baja California, Mexico. The project culminated in an overnight field trip to SMER. See more at Jason Rogalski’s website.
